Title: First mass electric car with all-wheel hub motors has no brakes or CV joints
Post by: Redaktion on November 12, 2025, 17:40:02
Chinese EV makers have been in a race to introduce the world's fastest electric motors, with BYD's Super e-Platform featuring a 30,000 rpm unit. After speed, the electric motor innovation has now moved to developing in-wheel placement, cutting dramatically on drivetrain components.

I have difficulty with the increase efficiency of drive train of 30%. The current EVs drive trains have efficiency over 85%, closer to 90%. An increase of 30% would mean an efficiency over 100%.

I think they likely meant 30% decrease in inefficiency. So 85% would become 89.5%.
