Title: $12 billion boom thanks to AI: Expansion of data centers continues to boom but concerns about US dominance linger
Post by: Redaktion on November 10, 2025, 15:01:27
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the key factor behind the current boom of German data centers. According to a recent market analysis by digital association Bitkom, installed capacity will increase by a full 70% by 2030. The capacity exclusively used for AI applications is expected to quadruple from 530 megawatts to over 2,000 megawatts.

To be fair, while datacenters make up a lot of AI, currently most AI usage is things like every day people using chatgpt. So it is a bit unfair to pretend the consumption is just companies doing AI. End of the day, people vote with their wallet and reality is most people don't care.

In the end, the ones who would suffer the most from climate change is the everyday people. The ones running companies aren't going to be bothered if food and living costs go up 100x fold.
