Uh-uh! Just... yuck!
This thing looks extremely cheap for its atheistics, buid quality and perceived value. It's clear that the Galaxy XR uses plastic construction rather than premium materials giving it a less premium feel and look; and one can see light leakage at the edges (no snugged/recessed fit like the Vision Pro), particularly on the sides, which can break immersion during use.
While Samsung markets the Galaxy XR as a more accessible alternative, that $1,800 price tag is inflated for what is essentially a low- to mid-tier cheap-looking device.
What's even more embarrassing is; for this outrageous price; the headset relies on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip; capable but behind Apple's M2; and anyone watched the video presentation demos; the Galaxy XR shows very clear noticeable lag in eye-tracking and window manipulation, further distancing it from the Vision Pro's fluid performance.
No. All Samsung achieved here is a compelling cheap reality mess product with Android/Gemini features/support; with the illusion at a lower price than Apple's solution; but have the audacity to charge ridiculously to try to fool some folks that in reality; this cheap-looking thing should be priced ~400 - 600 bones instead; and this gadget is nothing more than a plastic build, light leakage, ugly atheistics and last-gen performance crap that needs to support Sammy's argument that its crappy headset is... "half-the-price of the Vision Pro"; and get away with a super ridiculous price tag for its trouble.
