Title: Intel slashes open-source contributions in the name of competiton
Post by: Redaktion on October 10, 2025, 20:59:01
Intel will no longer be blindly contributing to the open-source software ecosystem, with recent comments from the company indicating that it will be using open-source as an "advantage to Intel." Intel was previously known for contributing substantial development efforts to open-source projects and releasing many of its AI acceleration tools and programs under open-source licences.

Corrected: The new stance on open-source contributions runs counter to the generally accepted ethos of open-source, of not using closed source since it can be abandoned or wired for surveillance and can't be extended as a user or developer would like.

The new stance also runs counter to competing with other OEM's dGPU's & iGPU's in the Linux space.
