Title: As Nintendo Palworld lawsuit continues, former Capcom dev advises not buying the game
Post by: Redaktion on October 01, 2025, 23:13:36
Not everyone is siding with Pocketpair during Nintendo's Palworld lawsuit. Many critics question the claims of patent infringement, but a former Capcom developer has a different opinion. Yoshiki Okamoto implores gamers not to support Pocketpair, even before the court issues its final ruling.

He can be wrong, just like any one that supports patenting gameplay mechanics. After all, Nintendo stole every mechanic from the dragon warrior series. Let's stop letting corporate greed ruin games and just make a better product with the billions upon billions of dollars the company has. Anticonsumerism is and will aLways be BAD!

At this point, I am boycotting all Nintendo products. More people should be. Pokémon is very derivative, including monster designs and the element matchup system stolen from Sony's Dragon Quest, so what right does Nintendo have to attempt to stifle a smaller developer for lesser offenses? If Nintendo had actually LISTENED to its fan base and released the title we all wanted, with their enormous resources, they wouldn't be threatened by Pocketpair's Palworld. Instead, they are now upset that Pocketpair gave us the game we wanted. It's pathetic and speaks volumes of the quality of Nintendo's people. I will NOT be playing their games or buying their hardware.

F that guy, First off Nintendo wasn't the first game to use any of the game mechanics that they're going after Palworld for. Secondly they shouldn't be allowed to patent a game mechanic as that will cause a MONOPOLY in the gaming industry, just waiting to watch them patent side scrolling games next knowing current Nintendo and how it's being run today. We should all be boycotting Nintendo over everything related to the Switch 2 as it is but with the Palworld situation on top of that I think s someone needs to sue them to make them see reality for what it really is.

QuoteAdding to his strong stance against Palworld, he says, the game "crossed a line that should not be crossed".

Of all the things in the world he could morally condemn...

He has no say in the matter.
He never played Palworld and doesn't plan on it. Therefore, he has no say.

at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo tried to copyright, throwing a ball at something, and trying to sue Major League baseball and the national football League over it, claiming 'patent infringement'. F this guy, and F Nintendo.

I love Nintendo and Pokemon but I don't like the direction they with the Let's Go Games. Oakworld is selling on competitor hardware, it doesn't necessarily equate to a loss in sales. Loyal fans will still buy the Pokémon games. Heck I bought Palworld because it was on Playstation, so it has Trophies. Nintendo still has yet to introduce an achievement system even on the switch 2. I still own my switch for Switch exclusives, they are still getting some of my money. It's all about corporate greed. That's why exclusives exists. You don't see Marvelous suing the creator of Stardew Valley. They confidently release their games along side it.
