Title: High Mileage vs. Quality Workouts
Post by: zoee on September 23, 2025, 06:53:14
I keep thinking about training and what makes the biggest difference for a serious runner. On one side there is the high mileage approach where you stack up the weekly volume and build a strong aerobic base. Whenever I take this path I feel stronger and more durable in races. On the other side there is the focus on quality with fewer miles but more intervals tempo runs hills and speed sessions. When I train this way I usually see faster improvements and I feel sharper. East African runners often rely on huge mileage while many Western programs put intensity first. Both styles have clear benefits but if you had to choose one approach which would you trust. Do you think high mileage is the real foundation of success or does workout intensity and variety matter more. I would like to hear how others have balanced these two styles in their training.
