Post by: Redaktion on September 22, 2025, 23:21:12
The Sony A7 IV may soon receive a successor. Two leaked photos show the Sony A7 V ahead of its release, including an upgrade that is apparently adopted directly from the expensive Sony A1 II. Sony is expected to opt for a 33-megapixel full-frame sensor.

The current 33MP sensor is one of the slowest around meaning electronic shutter is utterly useless for any action shooting and forcing you to use the dinosaur tech noisy mechanical shutter great for scaring wildlife. Also, it means slowest in class shooting speeds, topping out at circa 2010 10fps. If this sensor is continued, then the A7V will stand out like a sore thumb against all competitors using much faster sensors and offering thus far less rolling shutter and the ability to provide uncropped 4k60p video. A fancy hinge mechanism won't sway anyone.
