A Monash University research team has developed a new, carbon-based material that enables supercapacitors to store as much energy as lead-acid batteries, while delivering power more quickly. The breakthrough is now being commercialized by a Monash University spinout.

For reference, this is about 25% the energy density of LiFePO4 batteries used in cars.
