Researchers at Lingnan University Hong Kong have unveiled a novel sodium battery that can be fully charged in just six minutes. Using an anode-free architecture, the team has succeeded in overcoming key weaknesses in existing technology.

That is pretty bad retention. However, perhaps it will bring back the replaceable battery for devices, or even disposable, since in theory these don't seem (as) toxic.

Main issue for cars is the capacity per weight, so it's still a no-go there.

For stationary batteries it's a great technology that will make it easier to disconnect from the power grid.
