Title: Garmin releases new stable update for older high-end smartwatches, but there's a catch
Post by: Redaktion on September 12, 2025, 17:53:22
Garmin has finally delivered a new stable software update to many of its older high-end smartwatches. Despite recently finalising beta development, the company is restricting the rollout of System Software 22.06 to prevent it from reaching Pro-branded variants like the Fenix 7 Pro.

Still, there are no things like rucking and smart alarm.

They launched the 7 PRO devices 2 years ago, and abandoned it from the start.

For the last year the PRO owners only get the FW updates with bug fixes (at least they fix the bugs). For some reason these updates bump the major version number, from 20 to 21, 21-21 and now 22-23, with just the bug fixes.

I would expect adding rucking and other features that are just changes in activity profiles, to show they don't abandoned the previous generation owners once they launch the new device

Hi,

I mention all changes that i was able to track thanks to the beta testers community, not thanks to Garmin.

Search for this thread on the Garmin forum : Garmin - Fenix 7 & Epix 2 Series - Excel Changelog

I also create an excel changelog for ease of use and history.

Thanks not to comment under the thread, you can contact me by DM on the G Forum.

It is available for Pro models too, as usual it's a lack of Garmin communication and rigor !

The Beta announcement page was updated yesterday, even if the release was available since 3 days.

Public forum is always not updated :-(
