Title: Supercapacitors might become an ultra-thin and sustainable alternative to batteries
Post by: Redaktion on September 09, 2025, 22:05:43
Supercapacitors could be an efficient solution for smart devices and IoT applications. Pouch supercaps are ultra-thin, maintenance-free, non-toxic and offer a longer lifespan than conventional batteries.

This is chatGPT article, know the supercapacitors potential and limitations, nothing new in that, but what's the breakthrough, what did they solve, what's the technology? Talking bad about the current tech does not make other work. No specs of what they achieved, prof of concept. As it is just click bait, vaporware.

250.000 charging cycles.  Do they expect such a long life expectancy?

What a puff piece!

This article lacks in substance. Probably generated from the said companies about/mission statement page.
Anyway, super-capacitors store orders of magnitude less energy than Lion batteries. You could replace batteries in some industrial settings. But you would end up charging them a lot more often.
