Title: Why an anti-reflection PaperMatte display is probably not the best for most people
Post by: Redaktion on September 07, 2025, 13:28:24
The advantages of PaperMatte screens on tablets are obvious, as the panels offer excellent outdoor readability. However, the matte finish on the glass surface also harbors some disadvantages, which become clear in our review of the Huawei MatePad 11.5 (2025).

For stylus use, excluding Photo related, matte edition is always superior compared to stylus use on the slippery standard glass surface. So it's not only for outdoor lovers, but for any creativity with stylus..

You could also do the same thing with a rubber tip or a similar soft tip with decent grip, without having to resort with a worse screen.

To me personally matte display is obvious choice over reflective display in any case scenario. Actually I don't know how people can look at glossy screen at all (with all those reflections even in low lite conditions). No matter if I buy a tablet or a smartphone, i apply matte screen protector immediately. I really don't care about color vibrance and contrast as i found it to be unnaturally high especially on oled screens. It is not pleasent to look at. Plus, matte screens have much better feel and control when touching and navigating with your fingers. Glossy screens are real strougle both for watching and touching.

I have the papermatte 12.2 inch. It's superb, the matte finish is much more pleasant than the reflective norm of samsungs etc. My only regret was not buying the 13.2 version which really would make it an ideal general and travelling media viewer. Gbox makes all the google apps available as if native. Will be buying the mini when it comes out.
