With over 146 commits since the previous stable version, the build-it-yourself, CLI-only Linux From Scratch 12.4 guide is available for both the SysV init and systemd approaches. This project allows the user to create a minimal distro from source code (while offering information on adding a GUI) and has been around since late 1999.
