Final Fantasy XIV will be released for the PS6 and next-gen Xbox, but director Naoki Yoshida feels these consoles are not needed. The current gen consoles are quite powerful and the new hardware would be quite expensive.

In the last 5 (if not 10!) years 1080P gaming has even reached iGPU's to the point it is "good enough" for many gamers.

While many are gaming at 1440P and 2160P (4K) still seems a bit out of reach, do we really need/want 4K or better gaming or is 1080/1440P good enough?

At what point is the "more is better" nonsense get abandoned and the focus shifted to better game play mechanics and interactive stories?
