lol no one plays in their living room? It's where I do most of my gaming. I think if anything the living room is trending up even for PC gaming. I can't imagine why you think most people's switch is hooked up to a PC monitor.
No one plays in their Living Room? Why do you think the Switch Lite failed? No, the ability to "switch", to have one machine and one library for Wii and Gameboy IS the selling point. I play indies and puzzle stuff portable when someone else is on the Xbox/Playstation but if I'm playing anything bigger I play docked.
Everyone at Fan Expo Canada (Toronto) was using the mouse controls, at least on the last day. I was watching bc the bozos running the Ninty booth had shut down the entry line to newcomers about 90 minutes before the event ended.

Um. My console dock for Switch 1 & 2 has always only been on my TV. I actually just found out right now that a computer was even an option for the switch consoles 🤣

Newsflash, some people have friends and/or partners (even despite gaming) and feel sitting alone at a desk/monitor in our free time to be isolating.

Would say most console players play at their main TV.

I don't even own a computer. There's no need for one when I can use my smartphone for anything I'd want one for.
I play in my living room or in my media room on one of my two 55 inch 4k TVs. Why the f*** would I ever play on a computer monitor in an uncomfortable office chair?
Further, Nintendo can p*** off with its mouse control bs. If I wanted to game in the worst and most uncomfortable way it is possible to game, I would have a PC to play on. Its already bad enough that I have to pay money for a screen and portable features I'll literally never use.
