As long as the correct people were laid off (and the talented and productive employees remain), then there shouldn't be an issue.
If the loudest employees remain, and end up with a Ubisoft situation, where the talented and productive employees leave and make their own studio to create wonders like Expedition 33... then we're also in a good place, since it looks like good employees find a way to do great games elsewhere and give the middle finger to the corrupted large corporations.
