Title: AMD AM6 socket said to feature 22% more pins than AM5 but retain the same size and cooler compatibility
Post by: Redaktion on August 05, 2025, 18:16:16
AMD seems to have increased the pin density for its AM6 socket bringing DDR6 and PCIe 6.0 support. The socket is being developed for Zen 7 CPUs, both of which are expected in 2028.

2100 pins is suspiciously close to 2077 pins of Strix Halo's FP11. Looking at the Bits and Chips figure there are DIMM slots flanking the socket left and right, reminding me the quad channel socket 2011. Perhaps we can dream that AM6 is bringing 256-bit memory :D
