Post by: Redaktion on August 04, 2025, 18:08:57
Golden Pig Upgrade, a China-based reviewer, has put the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme version of the new MSI Claw against the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V variant of the gaming handheld. The former appears to be the winner in terms of performance at 17 W and 30 W TDPs.

Honestly,

if one was a Team Blue 'fanboi' this represents a heck of a achievement from Team Blue to catch up this close to AMD on iGPU & APU performance!

The even BETTER news for us consumers is that with two rival 'horses' in the game, the competition ought to result in better products for us!!

A bit unfair toward Lunarlake though, since TDP sets power target for whole APU, and in LunarLake that includes RAM which on package now, it would be within 2 watt at least.

One should compare power draw battery to battery in that case.
A8 is using similar display to Claw 8 AI+, so should be more fair comparison.

Good to know the weakest z2 extreme handheld is more powerful than the Intel 258v. This means the upcoming beasts legion go 2 and Xbox rog ally will dominate the handheld scene.
