Title: Anker’s new 150W charging protocol already supported by some cables
Post by: Redaktion on July 15, 2025, 13:31:58
A recent report suggests that three of Anker's existing cables support the upcoming 150W charging protocol. This technology is said to allow users to recharge some of the brand's power banks at up to 150W to reduce the charging time. As well as a cable, users will also need a compatible Anker charger.

Why? Just why?

The USB PD spec is already fragmented enough without adding in more proprietary protocols. Is 150 W really that much of an improvement over 140 W that they had to create its own protocol just for their devices?

Yeah. This is ridiculous. As a proud owner of a Dell laptop with it's proprietary 130W charging protocol I can say - NOPE, DO NOT DO THAT, BAD PROTOCOL, BAD!!!
