I prefer a good IPS lcd screen over an amoled display anytime.
The real issue is that if a laptop line adopts AMOLED display or OLED displays for once, they'll completely go for that ditching the IPS option.
If they still gave that option I wouldn't have a problem accepting this, because majority of people probably prefer vivid colours of oled screens and they probably have good eyes and don't get nausea because of OLED. I am already suffering from lack of an option when it comes to phones. It'd be disastrous if the same happened to laptops.
It is the same on P16s gen4 (which shares most of its components with P14s AMD gen6).
Ryzen 9 is only available with the 1200p screen low power 100%RGB.
This resolution is clearly not enough on a 16" panel. Even more in 2025. If we take a bigger screen, it is to display more information.

P16v, P1 and P16 have high resolution IPS screen options.
Above 1200p :
- P16s AMD gen 2 and gen 3 : 4K OLED 100% DCI-P3 400nits 60hz
- P16v gen 1 and gen 2: 4K IPS 100% DCI-P3 800nits 60hz
- P16 gen 2 :
--- QHD IPS 100% RGB 500nits 165hz
--- 4K OLED 100% DCI-P3 400nits 60hz
--- 4K IPS 100% DCI-P3 800nits 60hz
- P1 gen 7 :
--- QHD IPS 100% RGB 500nits 165hz
--- 4K OLED 100% DCI-P3 400nits 60hz
Lenovo could really offer something else on P16s
For P14s AMD, I am not sure as P14s has IPS screens (3k) but it is a 14.5 panel instead of 14" panel.
Hello,
Does anyone have any information or news about this limitation ?
I sent this article to my business representative and asked them to escalate the matter internally at Lenovo.
Competitors like HP, with its EliteBook X G1a 14", offer a 2.8K 120Hz 100% RGB display.
I believe Lenovo is losing potential customers because of this limitation.
Upon closer inspection not only is the OLED display not found on the HX370 but even the WUXGA touch screen is not allowed. It is odd, but they have two separate "build your own" one for the HX370 and the normal build your own.
It is unfortunate given the fact the HX350 generally performs worse than the 7840 cpu on tasks.
I can comment in a controversial manner. Lenovo, like other OEMs, got their massive bribes from Intel via Marketing Development Funds or larger bulk order discounts as they buy the CPUs and Chipsets in bulk, in exchange for limiting AMD SKUs.
Intel doesn't change, even in the dark hours of Lip-Bu Tan.

In June, I would've bought the P16s Gen 4 with Ryzen 9 HX 370 and 4K OLED—if it had been available. For months, I've been hunting for a replacement and even started considering Intel options like the ThinkBook 16p, Yoga Pro 9i Gen 10, or the upcoming P16v (likely Intel-only).
I've observed that Lenovo tends to favor Intel models — but to think they might restrict configurations (like Ryzen 9 + 4K OLED) simply to limit sales? That's confounding but I believe you.
Lenovo, if you're reading this: I'm a long‑time user and fan of your hardware and your premium support. I regularly buy laptops for my company from you. But due to the inability to order a P16s with Ryzen 9 and a 4K screen, I'm now evaluating alternatives from HP and Dell.
Don't be surprised if you end up losing clients.
Because this one gets no love -- I scooped up this weekend for $1200. Think I'll be pretty happy.
