Post by: Redaktion on June 16, 2025, 17:47:58
Ayaneo has confirmed that it has a second version of the Flip 1S in development. Launching simultaneously alongside a dual-screen variant, the Ayaneo Flip 1S KB features an overhauled built-in keyboard on top of other improvements shared with the Flip 1S DS. Ayaneo has dropped a few hints about pricing and availability of both handhelds, too.

More and more I see these gaming handhelds and cand help but think "why would I bother though?"

In the age of gamestreaming to your phone using your home pc for essentially free... why should I waste my money on any handheld? I can't see the point, a gaming laptop would give you a better experience for a similar cost, and be nearly as portable as many of these fairly bulky handheld that you would want a bag to carry it around.

I just dont see the point.

I do find this size difficult to justify .. but I have the GPD Win Max 2025 with 64GB RAM, and it  changed my relationship with my laptop..

I previously had a large ASUS gaming laptop with an RTX 4080, that could only run for an hour, the PSU was like a concrete brick. Completely impractical ro carry around.

The GPD with the HX 370 is powerful enough to play most games, and it will run for 3-5 hours. The screen is big enough to comfortably so "productive" work from, hell its even also powerful enough to run really large LLMs.. then whilst at home, I just connect my Dock, that had a 9070 XT, connected to a 40" 5k Lenovo monitor.

When I need to run, I chuck it in my small courier bag... sure its about 3x thicker than an Android tablet, but its crazy powerful and more convenient.
