England has promised up to £4 billion in investment to support the nation's switch to electric cars. The funds will cover the installation of 100,000 EV chargers, most of which will be targeted at drivers who do not have off-street parking.

If this article is real then it suggests £40,000 per EV charger.
Most cost about £1000.
Why does everything funded by government cost so much?
Where does the other £39,000 per charger go? Whose back pocket does it end in?
