Walmart support is proving that it can hurt to ask a question. Requests for updates or changing addresses have led to canceled Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order sales. I used to work for Walmart.com (the website/app, not in stores themselves). We would cancel preorders if they were oversold without an excuse. What they're experiencing is coincidence, and it's not related to asking support questions or anything. It's literally in the support pages this will happen. Now for why Walmart doesn't inform you it's sold out prior is because they were expecting more units and were told they would arrive on so-and-so date. The manufacturer eventually says they can't fulfill all of those requests, and so Walmart.com has to cancel ones that aren't able to be fulfilled in a timely manner.
That being said, if there was an alternative to the Switch 2, like TVs have (different manufacturer or different model), and especially around the Christmas buying season, Walmart.com would typically offer the equivalent model, plus give a generous gift card (at least $100). There was a year that we even gave free TVs plus gift cards worth $300 because the orders couldn't be fulfilled as TCL has a last minute recall before these were to be sent out for Black Friday deals. But, there is no alternative to the Switch 2, and so nobody gets an offer, just a cancellation.
To be honest, if someone was stupid enough to ask which store it is shipping from. I'd cancel and delete their account too. Someone that dumb is a liability. It is getting delivered to her house. It doesn't matter what store it is shipped from.
Target did something similar to me. They Said there was an issue with my target card payment, then I called support. They assured me it "was an issue on our end" and it would be resolved the next coming Monday. I even had them email me confirmation of this. Then Target emailed a couple days later with a cancelation. I called support and after discussing everything and with email recipients of their issues, they gave me the it's out of stock, there is nothing we can do.
I applaud walmart for cancelling orders on imbecile customers who are wasting their paid support agent's time. What could you POSSIBLY need to contact support for about a pre-order item? It's not going to get to you any faster.
To the guy/gal who doesn't know which of the three stores the order is expected from..... first, what difference does it make? second... the store would be the ONE YOU SELECTED when you placed the order in the first place. it's really that simple.
Just be patient people, so simple, yet so hard.

Are you dense? They're ordering it for PICKUP, you know, when you go to the store to pick up the item you ordered the day it releases instead of waiting for shipping. Reading comprehension is necessary if you're gonna be calling other people dumb.
This is a mix between opportunity from Walmart to cancel pre-orders and people abusing the system. People chosing other stores trying to game the system, or not being illegible from the start... The same happened with people buying switch 2 from Amazon UK while on America, pre-orders were cancelled too
One day after ordering I went to login to my Walmart account and it said my account had been suspended and to refer to the email I was sent for more information. But I didn't get an email. I called and they told me to email to email
[email protected] so I emailed them and they said my account wasn't suspended and I should talk to customer service. So I called customer service back and told them the situation again and they also said my account was still active and so was my order. So I asked them to try entering my username or phone number into Walmarts login and see what they got and they said they saw the problem and would need to escalate, and that I should call back if I didn't hear back in 3 business days. So I called back in 3 business days and that guy said that the first guy should have said 7 business days so I called back in 7 business days. That guy said my account wasn't suspended. He refused to try logging in as me but had me try uninstalling the app and logging in from my computer and a third device, all of which I'd already tried but I did again to humor him. Then he said he could cancel my order and I said obviously that's not what I wanted. So he told me I should just stop calling until it shipped. So, I have no way to check if my order has been cancelled or not. Super frustrating. I was planning to call to check on it a few days before. But I guess I shouldn't even do that.
That's why I'd rather wait until the emulation comes out.
Walmart has been doing this to action figure collectors for years. Mystery charges don't go through, for "security" reasons, they cancel your order immediately.

If they place an order for pickup and can't figure out the store, well that's their loss lol
Article said delivery, only reason to know the store it is being delivered from is to stake out when the delivery leaves and follow the vehicle to steal others...

I read this thread when it was originally posted. Apparently there are 3 Walmarts near him, and a couple of them are notorious for having items ship that have rocks instead of the item in the box, that sort of thing. Not completely sure as this thread is a week or two old.
Horror stories? It's really sad how these 'journalists' use words like 'horror, terrified, dangerous' in an article where it is a gross over exaggerated statement. Give me a break, waahhh, I will have to wait an extra week or so to do a tik tok dance with my switch 2....
