Synology have always been a bit behind on hardware - but the latest 2025 models, are just awkward, they feel like 10-year old used kit, that some amateur seller is trying to shift at 3-4x their actual value..

But the fun stops there, when you realise a staple of the SOHO market, is giving up their reputation, even their dominance, in an effort to create a walled garden - something that backfired and they had to backtrack on last time.

This time though, they have dug their heels in, and customers are not listening to claims of "better performance" - we all know red cars go faster.. but putting red-stickers on rebranded SODIMMs and NVMe's does not have the same effect.

Especially when you can get a 24-core beast such as the Ryzen hx 370 for around the same price.
