MSI has lifted the lid on a new gaming handheld, albeit not the one that some thought it would be releasing soon. While there had been evidence to suggest that a new 7-inch option was up next, MSI has presented a new 8-inch variant powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU alongside the Polar Tempest Edition of the original Claw 8 AI+ today at Computex 2025 in Taipei.https://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-Claw-A8-beats-Asus-ROG-Ally-2-to-launch-with-AMD-Ryzen-Z2-Extreme-and-80-Wh-battery.1019461.0.html

Fanboy much, as owner of most devises lunar lake / 258v is between z1 extreme & the hx370/ z2 extreme in terms of performance & that's not saying much either due to the fact the hx370 still performs the same in most games & applications as the z1 extreme. 15 watts tdp on hx370 is equal to 30 watts on Z1 extreme, with diminishing returns after 20 watts.
So if people just play plugged in there is no reason to spend more $$$. But the Z2E/ hx370 if perfect for battery life at 15 watts as I had explained above.
Hopefully next years handhelds go beyond whatever the current performance is. I'd love to see the hx395 in handheld form someday
Why tho?! I have the claw 8 and the legion go. The claw literally obliterates the legion go. Definitely kicks my Ally's butt. It's done so well with the intel chip. Why change it? I'm extremely impressed with the claw. The legion plays RDR2 pretty good at 800p, but the claw plays it amazing at 1080p. They shoulda done another intel setup. I don't see the Z2 Extreme being that much better than the intel core 7 in the claw 8. Especially with less ram. No way I'd get it over what I have now
