Title: MediaTek announces Helio G200: A Helio G100 with improvements in camera and connectivity
Post by: Redaktion on May 10, 2025, 09:00:26
The Helio G200 is the latest in MediaTek's line of processors made for 4G smartphones and tablets. The new processor has practically identical specifications as the Helio G100 announced last year, save for improvements to its camera and connectivity features.

Basically Helio G99 on steroids. Even G99 was just G90T with better fabrication (6nm vs. 12nm)

Close but incorrect, Helio G90T and G95 is a different SoC, they were targeted for upper midrange of it's time with Mali G76-MP4 GPU. The misleadingly named Helio G96 is a more accurate root to the rebrand galore (Mali G57-MP2). G96 -> G99 (6nm and boosted clocks) -> G99 Ultimate (Transsion Rebrand) -> G100 (better camera) -> G200

Mediatek can't innovate. Terrible chips, and since they don't respect gpl projects, I'm happy to see them failing. Stuck on 4G in 2025... Super power hungry chips, terrible gpu.

It's quite clear that MediaTek only cares about cost and efficiency than performance. Even competing chipsets from Qualcomm and Samsung (Exynos) have better CPUs because they're using Cortex A78 as high performing cores, going up. Don't know how long MediaTek is gonna keep up with this renaming scheme.
