Title: Leaker reveals unwelcome consequence of Apple, MediaTek and Qualcomm adopting TSMC 2 nm nodes for 2027 flagships
Post by: Redaktion on April 17, 2025, 13:44:56
A new leaker has offered fresh insights into the adoption of TSMC 2 nm nodes. Apparently, MediaTek will join Apple and Qualcomm in moving to TSMC N2, which could bring up to 15% performance improvements without incurring an associated power consumption cost. Prices of future flagships like the Apple iPhone 18, Oppo Find X10, Samsung Galaxy S27, and the Vivo X400 series are rumoured to be more expensive as a result, though.

A 1nm reduction that we dont need for 15% increased performance that we dont need isnt worth increased price for 99% of consumers.  Continue to buy new stock of old iPhones on the cheap

I just buy 1+ year old for >50% savings. There hasn't been a bottleneck in my tech use cases for many years now.

Thank you, addicted, early adopters, for this pattern.
