Sony has begun raising PS5 prices worldwide in response to the current economic situation caused in part by the Trump trade tariff increases, which has affected the yen and price of components.

in other words: they have decided to subsidize future (potential) non-increase of US pricing by charging the rest of the world more. And if Mr T changes his mind again, changes his mind again changes his mind again changes his mind again changes his... - and tariffs for US imports do NOT go up, well, Sony keep the extra profit in-house. Win-win.
