Gamers are hoping that a new Xbox console doesn't leave past-generation titles behind. Functioning like a Windows gaming PC, it may not natively boot older Xbox games. Players could get a glimpse into the future with the upcoming Project Kennan Asus handheld. https://www.notebookcheck.net/New-Xbox-console-rumors-have-gamers-worried-about-backwards-compatibility.984422.0.html
🤦 The current consoles ALREADY do emulation to run Xbox & Xbox 360 games... Aka, LITERALLY NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE!
And tunning Xbox One & Series games won't require emulation, whatsoever, as they thankfully use the exact same x86 architecture that PC's do, so you can just do a super low overhead API code translation layer similar to Valve's Proton to play Windows games on Linux. 🤷
Pointless article is pointless. People are stirring themselves into a frenzy over a giant pile of nothing... 🤦😑
Current Xbox consoles are already basically just Windows PCs. Xbox One consoles and onwards literally run a modified version of Windows, on modified PC hardware, using the same architecture PCs do.
