Title: Tesla cars are most expensive to repair but their insurance claims match newer gas vehicles

Tesla vehicles are costing insurers the most compared to any other brand or propulsion system, and the bulk of the claims go to Model Y repairs as it is the world's bestselling vehicle for two years in a row.

I'm having all sorts of issues with this article.

For one, it lumps all ICE vehicles into on one group when there are SO many more different classes and prices of ICE vehicles compared to EVs (which are broken into three groups) and in a far wider range of prices.

For example, my current and last two ICE cars were average CA$22,000 each so a $6,127 damage claim isn't even possible. They'd have written off the car. There are no EVs for sale in Canada, even with a rebate, at that price range.

The US is unusual as a market because there's a much higher ratio of SUVs and trucks to sedans and small cars relative to the rest of the world and these drive up the selling price average in the US. Also, different countries (and even regions IN countries) have different car insurance systems. In Canada, for example, each province has its own insurance method. BC has insurance provided by the provincial gov while one province over in Alberta, it's entirely private. The payouts in the two are wildly different with rebates that EVs get in one and not the other and ICE owner get in neither.

I get the need for EV fans to find ways to make their preference look as desirable as possible to others, but these are just garbage statistics, TBH. The problems with EVs for many are easy to explain - but rather than accepting that these issues exist, EV fans keep inventing new problems no one really has (like range anxiety and insurance costs) while ignoring real problems (like the up front costs of buying an EV and the need for faster recharging and more recharge points, especially for people in rental apartments).
