Post by: Redaktion on March 12, 2025, 14:18:40
Xiaomi has launched a pre-sale event for the Walkie Talkie 3 Chat Edition. This amateur radio is currently only available in China and is said to offer up to 5 m (~3.1 miles range). Plus, Xiaomi claims that the device is quick to set up thanks to an accompanying app, where you can also adjust various settings.

Those are HAM radio frequencies. You are not allowed to talk on those frequencies unless you have a HAM licence. You can not talk or conduct business on those frequencies. Even with a licence.
Get a radio with Business channels from the FCC, MURS, or FRS.
The last 2 are limited to 2 watts but they function well for many purposes. One is VHS, the other is UHF.

You would think that the author of this article would consider inserting that useful tidbit in there.
Nonetheless, for jurisdictions that do not have such rigid radio frequency rules, it seems like a nifty radio.

Nobody cares about HAM laws.  Save that s*** for reddit. You think China gives a s***?
Anyone that has a radio can talk on any channel they want and you can't do s*** about it.  It's over. FCC don't care.
