Volkswagen has announced that it is finally bringing physical buttons back to in-car controls, starting with the upcoming ID. 2all affordable electric vehicle. The switch away from capacitive controls will affect several potentially important functions in the marque's vehicles, climate controls included.https://www.notebookcheck.net/Volkswagen-to-bring-physical-dashboard-buttons-back-in-ID-2all.975204.0.html
I am sure this has nothing to do with EU rules forcing the return of physical buttons...
Yes, bring back physical buttons! I'm tired of accidently switching some car configuration every time I try to blindly change the temperature. You can't keep your eyes on the road with touch buttons!
I own a VW Tiguan with a fully touch/slider controlled climate cluster. And I've given up trying to adjust anything without looking. I end up consciously planning ahead when I will be able to adjust anything. Since those controls are down below near the shifter lever. And I drive in an European city with narrow roads.
I can operate the infotainment screen since the road is still in my peripheral vision. But climate controls with multiple presses are unworkable.
