Title: Hands-on with unofficial ThinkPad X1 Nano successor: Lenovo chooses the only possible way forward with new ThinkPad X13 Gen 6

13.3-inch laptops face a difficult market nowadays, as 14-inch models now are basically as lightweight and compact as the 13-inch devices of the past. To differentiate it, Lenovo fully embraces mobility and a low weight with the new Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 6.

I'm happy to hear they're keeping the IPS display on the new X13! I absolutely HATE oleds, it's the reason why I can't get a Yoga. Completely useless tech that only drains the battery, the wallet and makes it difficult to use Linux due to burn-ins (Windows has some features built-in to help with that). If I feel like looking myself in the mirror I'll just go to the bathroom; I don't need a 2k laptop for that. So that's one positive piece of news!

"...Lenovo has reduced the number of screws that hold the bottom cover from five to four, saving weight and... "

You mean cutting cost, a USB-A module barely weighs anything, maybe 5-10g. Let's call it what it really is.

I can't fault Thinkpads, although I always wanted two M2 slots. I hate the idea of partitioning my drive, it just seems so unclean. I'd much rather prefer to have two SSDs, one for each OS. I mean maxed out Gen 4 is just over £2000, so for that money I think it's fair to ask for two slots, especially when cheaper alternatives offer it, like Dell and HP.

One last thing I'd like to mention, which isn't specific to Lenovo but I do hate it with a passion is the Copilot key on the keyboard. If there is such a brand out there that should be known as a "linux laptop" it's Lenovo, specifically the Thinkpad series. It's extremely frustrating to keep pushing Windows-specific BS down out throats when we pay so much money for a device. If I have to live with the Windows key, I certainly don't need the Copilot key too! It might sound superficial, but I am considering going with Gen 5 instead of Gen 6 for that reason.
