19 years after it launched, Sony's PlayStation 3 is still receiving updates. While nothing earth-shattering, version 4.92 of the PS3's software brings some system performance improvements and new Blu-ray disc encryption keys, ensuring that the console will still be able to play the newest Blu-ray movies.

The only reason This was done is to stop jailbreakers

That's a byproduct for sure, but the primary reason is to update those Blu-ray encryption keys. A lot of people still use the PS3 as a Blu-ray player, and it can't update those keys on its own.
