Title: Powerful Zen 6 Medusa Halo iGPU could challenge desktop GPUs with 20% more CUs and 50% wider bus

2026 could be a big year for Ryzen CPUs, as AMD is reportedly working on Zen 6 desktop and mobile CPUs/APUs. However, the most exciting product in the Zen 6 product lineup is, arguably, the Medusa Halo APU which reportedly brings a big increase in CPU core count, iGPU CUs, and bandwidth.

I'm guessing a 50% wider bus is gonna bring additional memory channel(s)?

This is the equivalent of the Apple MX Ultra, but much better for overall usability

I heard they were trying to cut an 8 core die down to 4 cores to save costs but ended up with these instead.

Four channels on Strix Halo, 256 bit to 384 bit is a 50% uplift, so still four channels. 🤪

Haha, same! It's always the issue with buying new computer stuff. There's always something newer coming out soon. To wait, or not to wait...

Been waiting for too long for my dream silent gaming HTPC mini-PC (though this is more of a SFF-PC), so... I went all in towards the Framework Desktop (128 GB RAM version, for sh¡ts and giggles) and if I'm happy with it, I might upgrade to whatever Medusa Halo's successor is in the future (being Framework, it should be easy!)
