Title: Longer Model Y Juniper range now official as Tesla praises its new 'most efficient' tires for the low rolling resistance
Post by: Redaktion on February 09, 2025, 11:42:47
Tesla says it has improved the real-world driving efficiency of the new Model Y Juniper refresh by 10%, bringing an official EPA range that is revised upwards of what its predecessor was capable of with the same battery size.

It might be helpful to tell us what the tires are.

Now just drive on any normal road and see the real range just keep going down

Really?  Speaking from experience, or just reading clickbait articles?

2024 Model 3 Performance.  298 mile EPA range.

I can take a ~140 mile road trip and use about 60% battery.  And that's on a day like TODAY here in eastern Pennsylvania. Temps in the mid to high 20's, and running snow tires rather than the factory summer tire (for obvious reasons), with my speed mostly around 70-80mph.

So, in cold temperatures, with not the greatest tires, at speeds that aren't great for range, I'm using about 35 miles more "range" than the EPA estimate just going by a strict percentage... Which is just over half a mile extra per 1%, or .43 miles extra per kWH.

But please, tell us again how the EPA range doesn't account for "normal roads"

You must first understand 2 things
1. The bases of testing in normal generic condition as ~{¥} starting point for + OR - conditions. Basis physics.
2nd. You need a +155 IQ to understand what I said...
