Title: OnePlus tipped to replace Alert Slider with Apple-style button
Post by: Redaktion on February 08, 2025, 18:41:00
The OnePlus 13 might be the last of its brand's flagships to ship with the company's signature Alert Slider, according to a new leak. The hardware toggle - which could be described as the Android equivalent of the old iPhone mute switch but with an extra third stage - might be replaced with something much more like Apple's new Action Button. Then again, the OnePlus version could turn out to be more versatile and useful.

The best thing i like about my Oneplus 12 is the alert slider. This is a stupid move for sure if this is true and I'll have to reconsider getting the oneplus 14 in future.

The only thing I like about the OnePlus brand is the alert slider and I will be angry if it goes in favour of some weird button because the whole reason I liked having a physical switch or slider in this case is at least you can mute your phone whilst you are not looking at it AND know if it is muted or not without looking at the screen by just feeling which position the slider/switch is at whilst it is in your pocket etc.... It was the whole reason I bought one in the first place when I switched from Apple to android almost a decade ago because I hated iOS and wanted to do more modifications to my OS home screen etc... and be able to sideload apps and use custom ringtones and so on and when I heard OnePlus literally had something similar I had to go for it and that phone was the best thing I had and it lasted 4 years and was still working though I claimed a recycling discount when I upgraded in 2022 and had to part ways though the old one was cracked due to being accidentally hit with a wrench

While specific details about the new button's Sprunki (https://sprunki.org) capabilities and the timeline for its implementation remain undisclosed, OnePlus has expressed interest in gathering user feedback to shape its development.

Interesting news about the potential Alert Slider change on the OnePlus 13! It's always a gamble when beloved features evolve. Hopefully, the new Action Button equivalent offers similar functionality, or perhaps even something more innovative. Let's hope it doesn't impact the seamless user experience we expect. It would be a shame if this change throws off the phone's balance, like losing control in Slope (https://slopegamefree.io/).
