Title: Finally, it gets AI: Meet Firefox 135
Post by: Redaktion on February 05, 2025, 13:09:19
In addition to smaller changes such as credit card information autofill, certificate transparency enforcement, or additional language support for Firefox Translations, the latest version of Mozilla's web browser comes with AI chatbot access. This optional feature rolls out progressively, so it might not be available for many users yet.

It doesn't work in Win7/8.1.  Why should I care?  On my  Win11 laptop my goto browser is Deepin Browser native app onDeepn Linux!

Come on, guys, don't turn this into a war. Everyone is free to use whatever they like. Remember that when a product is free, often the user's online behavior/personal data is the price. Who collects that price is less relevant, after all, as long as there are still free (or paid) solutions around that don't spy on their users/sell their data.

While Firefox is my "go to" Browser and has been for decades, the addition of "AI" is one feature I can do WITHOUT.

Sadly since it is the latest 'craze' everyone will be adding 'AI' to everything they can.

Because FireFox is the only remaining large browser that uses their own engine and respects privacy, unlike ones like Deepin Browser and many others which are just spyware.

All things within reasonable limits. AI is definitely overblown and there are many privacy nightmares to think about. That said, some stuff are positive as well.

For example, I can now use firefox to translate webpages locally without sending them to google or some other 3rd party.
