Title: Gamers left high and dry as scalper bot clears entire Nvidia RTX 5090, RTX 5080 FE stock in Europe
Post by: Redaktion on February 01, 2025, 18:18:17
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 gaming GPUs appear to be suffering from one of the most supply-limited launches in recent memory. Unsurprisingly, scalpers are already doing their thing, inevitably making things even worse for gamers interested in the cards.

"inexcusably limited supply, overwhelming demand"

Without knowing the amount of the limited supply, one cannot know whether the demand has been overwhelming or just as small as the supply. Therefore, simply speaking of "overwhelming demand" is propaganda in the interest of Nvidia, OEMs, distributors and retailers, and is against the interest of us endconsumers.

NBC, even if you are not bribed by the manufacturers, why do you hurt us NBC readers?

What the hell are you talking about? The card has sold out everywhere. That is literally the definition of a demand overwhelming the supply.

so ridiculous.. first off: just use last years model or whatever you have. its not like seeing 1 million more polygons move 100 times faster (or whatever the specs are) is gonna be life changing.. and there wouldn't be scalpers if people wouldn't pay there ridiculous prices.. but no.. like a rich child they just gotta have it.. so dumb if you ask me..

Last year's 4090 is more expensive than the 5090...

This.

Contrived scarcity.

Shame on Nvidia.

Shame on those dumb (and rich) enough to feed this anti-social Nvidia behaviour.

I waited for years to be able to replace my old 1070ti with something for a reasonable price. I do photogrammetry and dabble with self-hosted AI models...so I really wanted the CUDA cores. I finally gave up on the Nvidia BS and got myself an AMD GPU. So sick of Nvidia.

What I want to know is where do the scalpers get the money to buy up these stupidly expensive video cards to begin with?

Literally no one can justify being impatient. Remember last year when 50 series cards didn't exist and life went on? You can all wait a little longer and stop encouraging scalpers

Outdated next week.... I have it on high authority from a guy in this comments section that you can pay games in these cards for almost 10 years and "it still works great". Are you calling Joe Schmoe a lier?

I should note, that something shared via Discord doesn't look like a scalper tool, though could be used by them. More like a tool for those who would prefer to avoid queues - and scalpers. Doesn't make it more ethical, though.

It's already been leaked that roughly only hundreds of 5090 FE models were produced, with maybe a couple thousand 5080s max. That's DEEP in "paper launch" territory and every scalper's wet dream.
