A new Oppo Find N5 (aka OnePlus Open 2) Geekbench listing shows us how the 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite variant fares against its 8-core counterpart. As expected, both chips fare similarly in single-core performance, and the difference is not anything to write home about in multi-core. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Snapdragon-8-Elite-7-core-variant-shows-up-on-Geekbench-alongside-OnePlus-Open-2.949756.0.html
No matter what, it's still a huge jump over the SD8G3. Hope they advertise it accordingly since it's the binned model.
It could turn out to be another major marketing misstep by Oppo if competitors like Honor, Vivo, and Xiaomi release new foldable phones with the 8-core Snapdragon Elite processor instead of the 7-core version later this year. Oppo made a similar mistake two years ago when they launched the Find N3 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 just days before the 8 Gen 3 was released.
