Post by: Redaktion on January 08, 2025, 16:02:13
Dell's new laptop portfolio has seen some major rebranding, and the rebranded lineups have an iPhone-like naming scheme. Dell faced criticisms for it, and now, the company has explained why it went through this naming route.

Plain stupid and cheap job from their overpaid marketing department. chasing the competitor never makes you a leader. I'm convinced all these managers can easily be substituted by an llm, or even a search engine and a mouse.

Copying Apple's naming scheme tells me to avoid such products.

Apple is successuful despite all it's stupidities, not because of it.

So copying Apple stupid decisions (poor design, bad naming, astronomical pricing, etc..) does't make the competition successful.
It just makes it plain stupid.

The fact that every media outlet has explained different versions of how the new naming scheme will work shows how it's been a total failure. FYI most other outlets are saying the XPS line will continue as the 'Premium' tier within the 'Dell' consumer silo and not as reported in this article.
Confused? Me too. Pity the poor consumers.
