Title: LG exits Blu-ray player market
Post by: Redaktion on December 12, 2024, 17:50:59
LG ends Blu-ray player production, following previous exits by Oppo and Samsung. Despite superior video quality over streaming services, declining sales and shifting consumer preferences mark another milestone in physical media's decline, with only Sony and Panasonic remaining as major manufacturers.

I guess if there's a consolation to be found, it's that video game consoles (as of now at least) still come with blu-ray drives (ala Sony's Playstation 5) but even disk drives in consoles aren't a gimme anymore.
