Title: No more social media for Australians under 16 starting in late 2025

Instagram, X, Snapchat, Facebook, and other key players in the social media market will be affected starting at the end of next year, when teenagers younger than 16 will not be allowed to use this kind of online platform. The companies involved will begin testing methods to be used to enforce the ban in January 2025.

Does this affect only the large social media platforms or also each tiny web discussion forum? How about VPN combined with insufficient age and residence verification?

It's another one of those think of the children-isms that governments love to trot out as a trojan horse to the public.

Obviously, they can't ban VPN access. We are talking about a ban that doesn't need any bulletproof enforcing methods to be effective for the majority of the target group...
