Let us combine some rumors shall we?
First it is almost considered a GIVEN that Nvidia will provide the power/APU for Nintendo's "Switch2". However given this device is for Nintendo, the focus here is on BACKWARDS compatibility with the SWITCH1 and battery life. (IMHO: not raw performance)
Second there have been rumors and speculation that Nvidia would like to release a APU that might be used by more than a single vendor. Earlier rumors that they would like to target the "high end".
So taken all together, Nvidia releasing a ARM64+NvidiaGPU APU that could rival or outperform the current crop of Qualcomm, AMD & Intel APU's that target laptop, tablet and handheld applications (IE: handheld gaming!!!) is not much of a stretch!
Come to think of it, it MIGHT be a wonderful thing for the industry as whatever NEW product they release could sort of act like a 'bridge' between the Switch2 and the rest of the industry by providing a platform that is 'similar' to what the Switch uses but with much higher performance.
Thus making the case of compiling products to run on ARM more attractive.
I think this is a win win.
I wonder if this new rumored SoC would be viable to use in a media player as well...aka a new shield player?
Or it can be simply for the desktop version of steamOS that they are working on.
