Title: HMD Global discontinues Nokia smartphones in Europe
Post by: Redaktion on October 01, 2024, 20:59:22
Human Mobile Devices (or HMD) defines itself as the "largest maker of European smartphones" on the market - just not those with Nokia branding any more. The Android devices in question have now been removed from its webstores in the region, although feature phones of that name still remain.

Looks like a crazy nationalist Chinese thing to buy the second or third most famous phone brand in the world and then trash it in favor of a no-name brand. Can't really be explained otherwise.

I gave up on HMD recently. I've been a Nokia fan since 1997, and longed for a good smart phone from them since the Windows phone, but all we got was poorly designed phones which failed to live up to even the most basic of Android compatibility. I had 4 HMD Nokias and the only one which was anything near to good was the X20, which decided a few weeks back to stop charging, and at that point I'd had enough, and I've now moved to Motorola. They had their chances and they blew them. It's a sad end to what should have been the best make out there.

The feature phones are a pile of crap let down by abysmal quality despite decent looking specs (Bluetooth, WiFi, sd card, headphone sockets combined with such poor quality sound circuitry it will make your ears bleed if you try to use it as an mp3 player)
I have the repairable Nokia, it's an ok phone but in the future I'll make sure any device I buy is not from HMD. That's what you get for trashing the brand. I would have continued buying Nokia otherwise. Stupid move by HMD
