A new report says Intel and AMD were the final two bidders for Sony's PlayStation 6 chip. AMD won the contract because Intel was unable to negotiate a mutually beneficial deal, which could have generated up to $30 billion for Intel. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-reportedly-lost-30-billion-in-potential-revenue-due-to-failed-PlayStation-6-chip-manufacturing-contract.889471.0.html
So did ARM not join in this bid?
Broadcom would be using Arm as would Qualcom
Team Blue has repeatedly ignored this space as 'there is not enough $$ in it'.
Much like they did for decades in the GPU space.
Now they are playing 'catch up' on all fronts.
How well is THAT working for them?
Intel is only in business because the American government wants to have an USA chip and don't really trust AMD that much.
They have been given billions and will continue for at least the next 10y.

ARM is more of an IP (ARM core supplier) than a system/silicon producer.
It is possible that AMD, Sony or Microsoft have licenses for ARM'S architecture and will be embedded in the design by AMD/Microsoft's solution.

Nonsense. Like 95% of the world's PCs (and servers) run on Intel hardware.
What country are you a foreign agent for?

Broadcom was the ARM licensee and bowed out of the competition.

Thank you i did not know this.
I think it would be cool if Sony made their own arm chips for the play station.
