Title: Google Pixel 9 Pro XL: The XL returns with 3,000-nit display, faster charging and new 42 MP selfie camera
Post by: Redaktion on August 13, 2024, 21:44:16
Google has returned to its 'XL' naming scheme after a five-year gap. Succeeding the Pixel 8 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro XL offers various improvements over its predecessor, not least a larger and brighter display that can now reach 3,000 nits.

6.8 inch screen, 3000 nits brightness, and most importantly... 240 Hz PWM to make sure that you will need replacement eyes in a few years 🤡

Is the 5G and VoLTE still intentionally blocked by Google in the half of the world? Any other 5G phone works worldwide, except of Pixels. Google won't tell you this, they even removed the list of blocked countries and carriers from the web site.

No other manufaturer is doing this.

Charging is listed as: 37W wired, PD3.0, PPS, 70% in 30 min.

I bit on this deal for the 128G Pro.  With Pre-order, you get $540 value for trade-in for Pixel 7 pro, well over double its listed value on sites like Swappa, plus $200 Google store credit. Plus a 2 TB upgrade, plus Gemini Advanced.  While I don't mind about Gemini so much, I am needing a storage upgrade on Google One, so it'll save me a little there, too, at least for a year. Total comes to $350.  My Pixel 7 Pro needs a new battery, so that was gonna cost me $75-$100 also, so roughly getting a new flagship for about $250, as I see it.

No scientific evidence.

@Yuriy: I came from a Pixel 4a with 240 Hz which used to give me massive headaches daily. Recently, ended up using a Pixel 8 temporarily for 2 weeks. According to every pwm measurement stated online I should also be experiencing the very same eye pain on this device too but it was weird. My eyes were fine and no headaches at all.

So I'm not sure these numbers posted online regarding pwm can be trusted anymore for people that are sensitive. You really have to just try and see in person if possible.
