Title: Radeon cards and 3D rendering jobs do not mix. Hobbyists and artists aren't amused about it
Post by: Redaktion on August 05, 2024, 20:10:17
AMD Radeon products have been fending Nvidia off rather well in recent years, providing better rasterization performance and more VRAM at a lower cost. That's great for gamers, but what about everyone else?

Blender is open source, fix it if you don't like it.
Apple had to add Apple Silicon support by themselves too, and it's still in half-assed state, because there's like couple couple guys doing it.

I tried to do a stable diffusion based recovery using Topaz Gigaoixel AI on a 5000 x 3750 image yesterday with my 6800XT and gave up after 3 hours and there was still 6 hours remaining. Utter trash for AI that's for sure.

Nvidia wouldn't be able to help you if you are tech illiterate enough to use your hard drive as video ram.

Exactly, and if you make a comment that "AMD is only good for gaming, both CPU and GPU wise", their fanboys will come for your neck.

AMD can't be comfortable with gaming alone if they want to gain some market share.
There are creators who game and there are creators who don't, their only choice is Nvidia at the moment.

Are you using windows? Cause I remember there being some issue with DirectML on windows.

Try Linux, it will give you 3-6X faster performance as it doesn't use DirectML

Only support Blender 4? Do you know what the current version of blender is? 4.2... 4.0 is not a friggin handicap. I can always tell when a young techie writes an article. Do you also believe games are out-of-date less than a year after release? Blender 4.0 released in Novemeber 23. 4.2 was last month...

I'm sure all 15 people who fancy themselves as "creators" that make midasf renders based on real artists work really care.

Sorry to hurt everyone's feelings but y'all ain't special.
