Texas-based battery tech startup Group1 has launched the world's first potassium-ion battery (KIB) in the popular cylindrical 18650 format. The battery outperforms Li-ion ones in key areas like charging speed, safety and number of charge cycles, while also being free of unsustainably sourced minerals like cobalt, nickel, copper, etc.
