Title: Mobile solar system for charging EVs without a charging station presented
Post by: Redaktion on July 05, 2024, 13:02:41
It looks like a roof box, but has a plug for the car's charging connection. This means that the battery can be charged anywhere, albeit rather modestly.

Unfortunately this won't work.
1,200watts is 200 watts short of the industry minimum 1,400 watts to charge 99% of electric cars.
Shame they forgot to read the charging standards!

1200watt is the peak of the solar panels, but your actual amount charging would vary on how sunny it is and angle. They demonstrate it on a Tesla which can do below 1.4kw just fine. That said some solar chargers include power cells so that the output would be higher than what the solar panels are capable.
